Guardmaster SC300 Hand Detection Sensor

The SC300 hand detection safety sensor is a compact Type 3, SIL 2, IEC 62061, PLd EN ISO 13849-1 Vision-Based Protective Device (VBPD), which used image-processing technology to detect the intrusion of objects through its detection window.

The safety-sensing function is performed by a single image sensing device, which views a single two-dimensional image against a passive pattern as the background. The detection principle is based on an object of a certain resolution blocking the image-sensing device's view of the pattern.

Targeted at light and medium industrial machine guarding applications, the GuardMaster SC300 can be used for frame openings ranging from 400 x 400mm up to 1,500 x 1,500mm.

The SC300 is incredibly versatile and is easy to install and set up, providing a cost effective, 20ms response, hand-detection solution that can replace 24 - 30mm safety light curtains. It's small size and detection offset allows it to be mounted on the inside or outside corner of a frame opening, maintaining the opening while helping to protect the SC300.

Set up is a simple four-stage process:
  • The unit is mounted in the corner of the opening to be monitored
  • Tape is applied to the opposing inside surfaces of the opening
  • The teach button (or an external key switch) activates the teach function, which the unit uses to detect the entire length of the tape
  • The functionality is verified using a test rod that comes as part of the tape pack.
Options include two tape varieties; 2, 5 and 10m power cords; and stainless steel mounting brackets.

The unit is used in conjunction with special reflective tape, which defines the boundaries of the sensing field. The reflective tape is offered in two resolutions 24mm for opening of 400mm to 1m and 30mm for openings for 600mm to 1.5m.

Key Features
  • Provides compact die-cast aluminium housing that can be mounted on the inside of or on the side of a frame
  • Provides angular field of view of 100°
  • Offers automatic alignment
  • Lets you double the maximum opening dimension by installing two SC300 safety cameras back to back with synchronisation inputs connected
  • Does not require software to program the monitored opening area

Making Panel Components Quick to Connect - TE Energy

TE Energy has launched a new Crompton Instruments cabling and interconnection product, that enables its latest digital metering system to be connected to its 3-phase current transformers as well as incoming or outgoing supply in an instant.

Q2C has been designed to be used with the latest Integra Ci5 digital metering system from TE Energy, with it's 5A secondary 3-phase current transformers. The system comes with three types of pre-cut wiring loom in various lengths to cover fuses to voltage; voltage to voltage; and CT to meters connections. The voltage looms are also multipurpose and can be used for both incoming voltage supply and for additional meter looping. All you have to do to install is simply click the components and the wiring together. The integral pull resistant connectors and earthing are included on the looms which are crimped to ensure vibration resistance.

On the Ci5 there is both voltage in and out connection and user programmable system configuration. CT ration is programmable and there is true rms/THD measurement. A new backlit LCD screen makes the unit easily readable in any location and the unit is easily clipped into its panel mounting.

Key Benefits
  • Complete wiring solution within integral connectors and earthing
  • Screwless terminal connections, vibration proof and maintenance free
  • Reduces installation time by at least 80% compared to standard methods
  • Eliminates potential cost of errors in electrical connections or programming
  • UK manufactured product
  • Tidy solution to cable management
The QC 3-phase 5A secondary current transformers can be used with or without the Q2C solution and combine three traditional current transformers in a single moulded case. The unit has internal grounding/earthing, has reversible mounting for left or right hand side and is supplied with a pluggable locking connector for easy installation.

Protect Your Valuable Equipment with the Finder 70 Series

Finder's new 70 series modular rail-mounted monitoring relays provide the solution to the increasing health and safety demands and the need to protect valuable equipment. It offers the maximum flexibility in monitoring a range of electrical supply parameters, in compact, easy to adjust units.

Finder's new relays are ideal for monitoring supplies to machinery, equipment, and installations where failure or variation outside acceptable limits may result in damage to equipment, danger to personnel, or distribution to critical processes or procedures. Featuring 'positive safety logic', the 70 series will ensure that any failure mode results in the output relay assuming its de-energised position. With a selectable fault memory (lock-out), safety is increased by preventing uncontrolled restarting of equipment.

With a wide range of adjustments to maximise application flexibility, the monitoring relays features two or three colour LED indicators for immediate visual indication of supply status. The functions and values are programmable from the front face, simplifying set-up and adjustment.

Within the 70 series range are units designed to monitor single and 3-phase supplies for under-voltage, over-voltage, voltage within set limits, and for neutral loss, phase loss, phase rotation and asymmetry.

The four monitoring relays in the 70 series range offer:

  • Voltage limits between 170 - 270 for single phase supplies
  • Voltage limits between 300 - 480 for three-phase supplies
  • Switch off delay time between 0.5 - 60 seconds
  • Variation of phase asymmetry between 4% - 25%
  • Modules available in 17mm or 35mm - dependant on the type
