SMD23E Stepper Motor, Drive and Controller - 3 in 1 Motion Control with Ethernet Interface

Advanced Mirco Controls Inc. have released their 3 in 1 integrated motion control package with Ethernet communication.

AMCI's SMD23E incorporates a Stepper Motor, Drive and Controller into a single product that interfaces to your PLC or PAC over the EtherNet/IP or Modbus-TCP network. Total system costs are reduced and installation is simplified because you only have to purchase one product versus a separate motor, drive and controller. Programming and configuration is streamlined because it uses standard commands through your PLC's software that are communicated over the network.

The key features of the Stepper, Drive and Controller include:

  • 3-in-1 Integration: Stepper Motor, Drive and Controller - simplifies installation and reduces cabling
  • Ethernet Interface (EtherNet/IP + Modbus TCP)
  • Programs directly through host controller’s software
  • High-torque NEMA frame size 23 stepper motor
  • Powerful, 3.4 amp, DC-powered microstepping drive
  • Optional encoder for move verification
  • ODVA conformance tested
  • Anti-resonance circuitry ensures smooth performance at any speed.

The integrated stepper motor, drive and controller are in one compact package, with an optional encoder available for more verification. The built-in Ethernet interface simplifies connectivity to the host controller using standard RJ45 connectors and CAT 5/6 cabling.

This cost-effective, integrated motion packages are ODVA conformance tested and interface with many PLCs including those from Rockwell Automation.

The SMD23E provides an unsurpassed speed range with excellent high torque stepper motion control, and delivers exceptional performance across a range of applications. Examples of such applications include conveyors, bottle capping, package sorting, and cut-to-length.
