Thank Routeco It's Friday! (TRIF)

This week in the office we’ve been talking a lot about our physical fitness. Whilst some of us suggest we can run a marathon (not too sure if I believe all of them), I can only last 5 minutes on a treadmill before I need a lie down.

Today one of the marketing girls signed up for the Tough Mudder challenge, for those of you who haven’t heard this is an extremely challenging physical event which is dependent on team work. As inspiration to her or any others out there who like a physical challenge. I have picked out some of the toughest in the world.
1.       Jungle Marathon- Brazil
This footrace takes place deep in Brazil’s Amazonian rainforest, runners must carry their own supplies and cover a distance of 240 kilometres over 6 days. Competitors must expect to clamber through swamps, over hills and through thick jungle foliage, all while not trying to fall prey to the local wildlife: deadly snakes, jaguars and scorpions.

2.       Yukon River Quest – Canada
This gruelling paddle race winds its way through the wilderness that is the Yukon River. Contestants have to manoeuvre a kayak along 705-meter course that hugs the shoreline from Whitehouse to Dawn city. This race is around the clock with no stops in between, in freezing cold waters. As it takes place over the space of 5 days and in the middle of summer contestants can expect 24 hours of sunlight.

3.       The Arctic Circle Ski Race – Greenland
Greenland’s west coast is home to the ultimate endurance race for cross- country skiers, 160 kilometres of energetic, gliding through crisp, frost-framed landscapes. It lasts 3 days in which the nights are spent in tents, the challenge lies in sub-zero weather conditions. Hurricanes and rain storms have threatened the contestants in previous years but have not stopped them from competing.

Have you ever taken part in a tough physical challenge? Feel free to share!

Enjoy your weekend!

Rachael
